Today at Apple with Wood&Lead
As part of Singapore Art Week 2018, I was invited by Apple to share my creative journey as a self-taught illustrator at Apple SEA Flagship Store in Singapore. I had the opportunity to talk about the curiosity that shapes my practice, and my penchant for storytelling through art.
The sharing session was followed by an interactive live art workshop where audiences were invited to construct their own Imaginarium with me guiding them through the process live.
Each participant was given an iPad loaded with a template of artwork acting as a ‘sticker sheet’ that allows them to easily extract elements to build their own fascinating worlds.
The best part... participants from the audience sharing their creations and the stories behind their Imaginarium. There were so many inspiring creations from the audience within the short span of time and I wish I could share them all!
Lastly, this is my artwork created for the workshop.
This idea of an ‘Imaginarium’ stemmed from the concept of living in one’s own world, sparked by my fascination with terrariums and their self-contained ecosystems in bell jars. By having the audience share their versions of the Imaginarium, it allows them to be part of the story I am trying to construct.
Thank you to everyone who came down (and those who wanted to but couldn't be present), the turn-out on a Thursday night was so encouraging. I am grateful to be surrounded by people who are a constant source of inspiration and extinguishers of my self-doubt. Kudos to my amazing friends who documented the session with all these photos in the post. ☺︎
